5G Compatible Smartphones: Here’s a list of supported devices in 2021

5G is the next generation of mobile networks, which offers faster data download and upload speeds, along with steadier connections on devices than before. 5G compatible smartphones have started hitting the markets across the globe.

AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint had started rolling out the 5G networks in the US almost a year ago. However, at that time there wasn’t a wide range of 5G compatible smartphones available in the market. Now, you’ll see a large number of 5G and WiFi 6 compatible smartphones available in the markets. Whereas, the Wi-Fi 6e smartphones are rare to spot right now.

The first 5G phones were powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, which has Qualcomm’s first 5G modem, X50. And now, you must have seen the latest flagship devices are powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset. This newer chipset has the support for Qualcomm’s newer 5G modem, X55. Therefore, we can expect a wide range of 5G compatible smartphones to hit the market this year.

Before jumping to the latest 5G compatible phones, here’s how to check whether your device supports 5G or not.

Before jumping to the latest 5G compatible phones, here’s how to check whether your device supports 5G or not.

How to check the mobile network compatibility of your smartphone?

Like Wi-Fi 6, there isn’t a direct method to check the mobile network compatibility of your phone from the settings menu. Rather, you can look up for the specifications of your smartphone from the following sources:

  • Your phone manufacturer’s official website.
  • Some popular platforms for smartphone specs like GSMArena.
  • Google Search Engine Result Pages.

Let’s understand this with the help of an example. We’ll be checking the supported mobile networks on the recently launched Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Follow these steps to find if the Galaxy S20 Ultra supports 5G:

1. Go to gsmarena.com

2. Type S20 Ultra in the search box and select  Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

5G compatibilty check step 13. Look for the Network section.

4. You’ll find the list of mobile networks supported by the S20 Ultra 5G.

5G compatibilty check step 2

For the Galaxy S20 Ultra, you’ll see that it supports GSM/CDMA/HSPA/EVDO/ LTE/ 5G mobile networks. Therefore, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is 5G compatible.

You can follow the same steps to know the Mobile network compatibility of any Android and iOS smartphones.

Now, let’s know which phones are 5G compatible.

Here’s the list of 5G compatible phones in 2021
