1. Make sure you’re using an MFi charger

If your iPhone 12 Mini overheats while charging or your iPhone 12 Pro Max gets too hot when plugged in, there can be some issues with the charger and not your iPhone. To be on the safer side, make sure that you are using either an Apple or an MFi certified charger. These chargers are fully compatible with your iPhones and deliver optimized charging speeds. More importantly, certified chargers offer protection against overheat, overcurrent, overvoltage, and short-circuit problems.

On the flip side, pairing non-certified, cheap charging accessories can cause several issues like battery drain, slow or no charging, or even overheating problem on you iPhone 12 Pro/ 12 Pro Max. This is one of the most common reasons why your iPhone 12/ 12 Pro gets too hot while charging.

To avoid any complications, use either Apple or MFi certified adapters and cables. Also, you must check the charging cable for visible signs of damage like bends, exposed wires, etc. If the cable turns out to be faulty, replace these with Apple or MFi certified ones.

2. Don’t use your iPhone while charging

Are you streaming or playing graphic-intensive games while your iPhone is charging? This can be one of the prime reasons why your iPhone 12 or 12 Pro is overheating while charging.

It’s pretty common to use your iPhones while it’s charging. Sometimes we feel that it won’t make any difference or we don’t have the patience to keep the phone at the charge, even for a few minutes. If your iPhone 12 Pro or 12 Mini is heating too much while charging, you must unplug the charger right away. Now, remove the case (if any), turn OFF your phone, and allow it to dissipate heat.
