Lenovo’s CES lineup includes a dual-screen laptop, an e-Ink laptop & more

CES 2023 is in full swing, with interesting announcements coming from every sector of the tech industry. Like every other tech company, Lenovo is unveiling a range of new desktops, laptops, and accessories. In this article, we’re more focused on laptops which were the highlight of the brand. The Yoga Book 9i is a dual-screen laptop and ThinkBook Plus Twist with 12-inch e-Ink cover display with a twist hinge.

Lenovo also announced a refreshed Yoga Slim 6 and 6i, Yoga Slim 7 and 7i along with Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 and Think Book 16p Gen 4. There are also several monitors, desktops, and tablets announced by Lenovo that you should check out. The Lenovo AIO 9i and ThinkCentre neo 50q Gen 4, Legion Tower series, etc. have also been added to the lineup, slated to arrive later this year.

There are 3 major laptop series that Lenovo refreshed this year with some amazing technology. The Yoga Series, ThinkBook Series, and Legion Series. 

The Yoga Series

YogaBook 9i

Let us address the elephant in the room first, the Lenovo YogaBook 9i, a strangely tall dual-screen laptop. It comes with two 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED PureSight display with a 60Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support. The dual-screen design offers multi-mode functionality for increased multi-tasking and entertainment option or a cool party trick. This device is a laptop cum tablet cum dual-monitor setup all within a compact size that you can take anywhere. The laptop comes with a folio stand allowing you to seamlessly switch between laptop, tablet, or tent mode. 

The YogaBook 9i is powered by a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, coupled with integrated Iris Xe graphics. There can be up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. It is equipped with quad speakers and a Full-HD IR webcam with an 80Wh battery that is claimed to provide up to 10 hours of dual-screen playback support. The YogaBook 9i will begin at $2,099 and is expected to be available from June 2023.

Yoga Slim 6i

The new Yoga Slim 6i– Lenovo Slim 7 in the US is a slim lightweight laptop that has a 14-inch OLED display with up to 2.8K resolution. The laptop is powered by the 13th Gen Intel Core i5 or Core i7 P series processors which makes it a beginner-friendly laptop. 

Refreshed Yoga 9i, Yoga Slim 7i, Yoga 6

Lenovo has also introduced and refreshed its Yoga 9i and Yoga Slim 7i Carbon models that are now powered by 13th Gen Intel Core processors. Meanwhile the new Yoga 6 refresh features by including Ryzen 7000 series processors and an improved 59Wh battery that is said to provide up to 12.5 hours of backup.

ThinkBook Series

The ThinkBook Twist is a unique laptop that continues Lenovo’s obsession with E-ink displays—this time with a twistable hinge. The ThinkBook 16p is also getting refreshed with an updated design and more powerful processor, and even modular accessories that Lenovo is dubbing “Magic Bay”.

ThinkBook Plus Twist

The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Twist features a gorgeous 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED display with Dolby Vision HDR support but slaps a 12-inch color e-ink display on the back panel. The unique twistable hinge allows you to use either display in any configuration you desire. You can use ThinkBook Plus Twist in either clamshell format or tablet format both modes support either the OLED screen or the 12Hz e-Ink display. You can also use the stylus to read or take notes during lectures or Zoom meetings. 

The e-Ink Display is said to reduce eye strain during long periods of use whereas the OLED screen provides 400 nits of brightness. This laptop cum tablet is powered by a 13th Gen Intel Core processor with 16GB(LPDDR5X) RAM and up to 1TB SSD(PCle Gen 4). For connectivity, you will get 2x USB-C Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.1. ThinBook Plus Twist will cost you around $1,649 when the laptop goes on sale in June 2023.

ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 

ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 gets an all-around update compared to previous generations. The Gen 4 is designed to tackle high-intensity workloads, image, and video editing, and even heavy gaming. It gets a 16-inch 3.2K IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 400 nits of brightness, and Dolby Vision support. This laptop packs up to 13th Gen Intel Core processors, coupled with Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 dedicated GPU, DDR5 memory, and dual NVME SSD slots that allow faster transfer speeds, with up to 2TB of storage.

Lenovo has also unveiled three new Magic Bay accessories with this laptop— Magic Bay 4K Webcam, Magic Bay Light, and Magic Bay LTE. These Magic Bay accessories are clip-on accessories that you can purchase separately for more productivity. There are flexible 4K webcams, a 200 lux-LED light bar for better-looking video calls, or even a 4G LTE hotspot that can give you mobile connectivity anywhere-even for other devices. The ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 will start at $1,349 and is expected to be available by May 2023.

Legion Series

The annual update to its Legion laptops Lenovo included a dedicated Lenovo LA AI chip that the company says performs “graphical wizardry”. The company says this chip can dynamically adjust frame rates, increase the maximum heat threshold, and boost overall performance. The LA AI chip is included in the new Legion 7,7i, 5, and 5i (the “i” suffix stands for Intel variants) gaming laptops. The chip in question has Lenovo’s LA AI processor, which it claims is the world’s first dedicated AI processor in gaming laptops. This chip combined with Lenovo AI Engine+ software leverages machine learning to tune system performance in real time.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7 and 7i

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7 and 7i both include a 16-inch screen that features the 16:10 WQXGA 2560x 1600 panels, with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz. Both the laptops feature the latest 13th Gen Intel Core processors or AMD Ryzen 7000 Series, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series laptop GPUs. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i will cost you around $2000 and starts shipping in March.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5 and 5i

Similarly, Legion Pro 5 and Legion Pro 5i both include a 16-inch screen that features the 16:10 WQXGA 2560x 1600 panels, with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz. The Legion Pro 5i comes with 13th-Gen Intel Core i9- 13900HX or AMD Ryzen 7 7845HX. The Lenovo 5 and 5i are slightly cheaper and cost around $1,640. It will start shipping in April.
