All you need to know about iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max

The latest iPhone 14 Series is finally here! After months of constant leaks, rumors, and expectations buzzing around the internet, Apple unveiled its much-awaited iPhone 14 lineup. The Cupertino tech giant hosted the “Far Out” event at 10 AM PT on 7th September 2022 at the Steve Jobs Theater. It was an invite-only event, with a live stream on Apple’s website and YouTube handle. As always, we’ve got two models in the Pro lineup, the premium iPhone 14 Pro and the maxed-out 2022 flagship iPhone 14 Pro Max. These Pro models are fused with some really impressive specifications and the advanced A16 Bionic chip brings some powerful additions under the hood. Undoubtedly, Apple brings the most innovative features on the PRO lineup of its iPhone 14 Series.

This time, Apple introduced the standard iPhone 14 with the new 6.7” iPhone 14 Plus that replaced the iPhone Mini model. Apple Watch Series 8, SE II, Apple Watch Ultra, and new AirPods Pro were also announced at the same event.

Here’s everything you need to know about the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models.

The iPhone 14 Pro lineup boasts surgical-grade stainless steel and textured matte glass design that’s available in four gorgeous color options.

The front glass boasts Apple’s ceramic shield which is known for its durability. Moreover, like previous iPhones, there’s industry-leading IP68 water resistance. Just like their predecessors, the iPhone 14 Pro sports a 6.1” and the beefiest Apple 2022 flagship rocks a 6.7” Super Retina XDR display. That said, the new Pro iPhones feature slimmer borders and larger activity areas. Additionally, they feature an outdoor peak brightness of up to a whopping 2000 nits which is twice as bright as the iPhone 13 Pro. Impressively, it’s the highest outdoor peak brightness ever in any smartphone.

The 120Hz dynamic refresh rate display was one of the most highlighting features of the iPhone 13 Pro. Thanks to the LPTO panel, the iPhone 13 Pro display could go from an impressive 120Hz to as little as 10Hz, to help save on battery life. Now, Apple is all set to take this a notch higher with its iPhone 14 Pro series. The refresh rate on the display of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can go as low as 1Hz to further preserve battery life. Now, this also enabled the use of Always ON Display on the iPhone 14 Pro models that can show stocks, weather, calendars, activities, and information on the lock screen. Additionally, iOS 16 wallpapers have a sleep state that will darken to save on battery power.

Dynamic Island- A Notch that moves

With the latest iPhone 14 Pro lineup, Apple brings one of the major design upgrades on an iPhone by removing the now infamous display notch. Instead, the Cupertino giant has introduced the new “pill-shaped” cutout that houses the Face ID components along with the selfie camera. Now, that’s the first major display revamp after the iPhone X which was introduced back in 2017. This pill-shaped cutout is called the Dynamic Island.

The Proximity sensor is moved behind the display, and the TrueDepth Camera is redesigned to take up less screen space. Dynamic Island offers a new and interesting way to interact with notifications, alerts, and activities that pop out of the notch in an animation. For example, Dynamic Island will expand when you receive notifications, confirm the connection with your AirPods, and much more. Also, when you go back to the Home screen, the background tasks like ongoing calls and music playback will be shown in that self-adjusting notch.

Faster Performance

iPhone 14 Pro Specs

This time, Apple has drawn a clear line between the Standard and Pro models with some PRO exclusives, and one of them is the advanced processor. The iPhone 14 Pro series is powered by the advanced A16 Bionic chip which is a level up from the A15 Bionic that we’ve seen on the iPhone 13 last year. With two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, the new 6-core CPU makes the iPhone 14 Pro models upto 40% faster than its competition. The A16 Bionic Chip is paired with an accelerated 5-core GPU, 50% more memory bandwidth, and the new 16-core Neural Engine, which makes it an ideal companion for graphics-intensive games and apps.

Since the performance of any smartphone majorly depends on its processor, this seriously-capable A16 Bionic chip is gonna deliver some mind-boggling performance on the latest iPhones.

Thanks to the fusion of iOS 16 and the efficiency of the A16 Bionic chip, the iPhone 14 Pro series is more power efficient and promises an all-day battery life.
