Google Pixel 7a launched at I/O 2023 with the Tensor G2 chip and an upgraded camera 

After months of rumors and leaks, the most anticipated Google Pixel 7a was launched at the I/O Developer Conference on 10th May 2023. We also witnessed the launch of Google’s first-ever foldable, Pixel Fold, at the event. Alongside, the company also unveiled the already announced Pixel Tablet

Google Pixel 7a Display, Processor, and Software 

The Pixel 7a packs a 6.1-inch 90Hz OLED display that comes with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, HDR support, and an Always-ON display feature. As far as durability is concerned, Google backs the mid-range display with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Inside, there is an upgraded Tensor G2 and Titan M2 coprocessor for improved performance and security over its predecessor Pixel 6a. As far as software experience is concerned, the Google Pixel 7a runs on Android 13 out-of-the-box and is upgradable to Android 14

Google Pixel 7a Camera Specs

The Google Pixel 7a houses a dual-camera setup on the back that includes a 64-megapixel main Quad PD Quad Bayer wide-angle camera with an 80° field of view and OIS support. Whereas the secondary sensor includes a 13-megapixel sensor with a 120° field of view for ultrawide shots. Please note that the main camera also comes with 8X Super Res Zoom, while the ultrawide sensor features Auto Focus with dual pixel phase detection. On the front, you’ll find a 13-megapixel punch-hole camera with Fixed Focus and a 95° field of view. As far as video recording is concerned, you can shoot 4K videos at 60fps using the rear camera, whereas the front snapper allows taking 4K videos at 30fps.

Google Pixel 7a Battery and Charging

The Pixel 7a packs a 4385mAh battery with 18W fast wired charging and Qi wireless charging support. To remind you, Pixel 6a isn’t compatible with wireless charging, therefore, it is a welcome change.

Google Pixel 7a Price, Availability, and Colors

The Google Pixel 7a starts with a price tag of $499, for the only model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. To remind you, the latest A series smartphone is $50 more expensive than the last year’s Pixel 6a. This mid-ranger Pixel smartphone is available in four awesome colors: Charcoal, Snow, Sea, and Coral (limited to Google’s online store only). As a freebie, you will get a Pixel Buds and a limited edition case if you opt for the limited edition Coral color.
