OnePlus Watch: All you need to know

OnePlus has marked its entry into the Smartwatches market with its premium looking and feature-packed OnePlus Watch. It was launched alongside the OnePlus 9 Series on March 23, 2021, at a global online-only event. The OnePlus 9 lineup includes three models, the high-end midrange OnePlus 9, a true flagship OnePlus 9 Pro, and the much anticipated OnePlus 9R. Coming back to the OnePlus Watch, a high-end wearable that’s designed with an equal focus on stylish looks and advanced features. Just like the Apple Watch Series 6, the OnePlus Watch can also monitor blood oxygen levels.

OnePlus Watch Specifications

OnePLus Watch Features

The OnePlus Watch features a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 2.5D curved glass protection. The company did not go for the oblong rectangle design like Apple and other popular smartwatches, rather it chose a sleek, circular design that looks similar to the Samsung Watch Active. The OnePlus Watch is available only in a 46mm case with interchangeable watch bands.

Besides the stainless steel option, OnePlus has also launched the Cobalt Limited Edition that’s crafted using cobalt alloy, a sapphire glass watch face, paired with a leather strap.

OnePlus did not use WearOS with this high-end smartwatch, rather it has opted for an RTOS-style software setup with a companion app that allows it to connect to a phone. This smartwatch offers more than 50 customizable watch faces.

It’s worth mentioning that right now, the OnePlus Watch is not compatible with iOS devices.

OnePlus Watch Health and Fitness features

The OnePlus Watch comes with 110 workout modes, built-in GPS, and a 5ATM IP68 rating which makes it safe swimming. It can monitor heart rate, stress levels, sleep patterns, as well as blood oxygen levels. The watch offers 2GB of internal storage for music, which allows users to store up to 500 tracks to listen to their Bluetooth headphones when working out, even if they don’t have their phones with them.

This smart wearable also allows you to track metrics like calories, distance, swimming efficiency, and more.

OnePlus TV Integration

The OnePlus Watch offers a seamless connection with your phone as well as the OnePlus TV. It can display app notifications, messages, and allows you to receive voice calls or play music. Besides, you can also adjust your OnePlus phone’s settings through the watch. One of the prime highlights of the OnePlus Watch is that you can use it as a remote control for your phone’s camera or OnePlus TV.

OnePlus says that you can use the wearable to control the TV’s volume or power it on/off. That’s not all. The OnePlus Watch automatically lowers the volume when you’re on a call. Impressively, it can also detect if you’ve fallen asleep while binge-watching your favorite series and turn off the OnePlus TV after 30 minutes of inactivity.

OnePlus Watch Battery Life

One of the major selling points of the OnePlus Watch is its impressive battery. The OnePlus Watch packs a 402mAh battery that claims to deliver up to two weeks of use. For power users, the smartwatch promises to deliver at least a week of power on a single charge. In addition, the watch is equipped with fast charging capabilities that can give you a full day of power in just 5 minutes and tops up your OnePlus Watch with one week of charge in 20 minutes.

This puts the OnePlus Watch miles ahead of the Apple Watch Series 6 and the Samsung Watch 3 in terms of battery life.

Price and Availability

The standard OnePlus Watch costs Rs 16,999 in India, $159 in the US, and $219 in Canada. You’ll get to choose between Moonlight Silver and Midnight Black finishes. The prices for the Cobalt Limited Edition haven’t been announced yet.

Coming to availability, the company hasn’t mentioned any specific date for when these smartwatches will hit the markets. We’re still waiting for the release date.

It will be interesting to see if the OnePlus Watch is able to impress people with its sleek, circular design and health tracking features. Considering the price, the OnePlus Watch is an amazing option for people who need a feature-packed smartwatch at an attainable price.
