Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series launched at July Unpacked event with a new chipset

Samsung finally unveiled the Galaxy Tab S9 series at the July Unpacked 2023 event. The South Korean tech giant also launched the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Watch 6 series at the same event. Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series: Specs and Features

The Galaxy Tab S9 series includes three tablets: the standard Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and the beast, Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Talking of the display, the base Galaxy Tab S9 comes with an 11-inch AMOLED display. Whereas the Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra flaunt a relatively bigger 12.4-inch and 14.6-inch AMOLED panel, respectively. Let’s not forget that all three models come with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and run on Android 13 out of the box.

One of the major upgrades is that all three Galaxy tabs are now powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor and have IP68 rating. On top of that, all three models include an in-display fingerprint sensor and quad stereo speakers with AKG and

Dolby Atmos support. In the Galaxy Tab S8 series, the base Tab S8 had a 120Hz LCD display. It’s been upgraded to a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. As a result, the side-mounted fingerprint sensor has also been moved to under the display. For the Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra, the displays have been upgraded from AMOLED to Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels. The new Tab S9 series is also Wi-Fi 6E compatible.

Thankfully, the S-Pen, and USB Type-C cable still ship in the retail box. Furthermore, we still have the microSD card slot for expandable storage.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series: Camera

The Galaxy Tab S9 packs a 13-megapixel auto-focus camera at the back and a 12-megapixel camera at the front. The Galaxy Tab S9 Plus variant also houses the same selfie camera as the Tab S9, but it comes with a 12-megapixel dual camera setup (primary and ultrawide) at the back. The beefiest model, Tab S9 Ultra, comes with upgraded camera specs. It houses an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera at the back, which is an upgrade from 6MP on the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. In addition, the rear camera setup also includes a primary camera of 13-megapixels. We have the same dual 12-megapixel selfie cameras on Tab S9 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series: Battery and charging  

The standard Tab S9 features an 8,400mAh battery (an upgrade from 8,000mAh on Tab S8). Both the Plus variant packs the same 10,090mAh battery in Tab S8+ from last year. The Ultra model of the Tab S9 series also retains the good old 11,200mAh battery. It is worth noting that all three models under the Galaxy Tab S9 series come with 45 Watts fast charging support. There’s no charger in the box. So, you’ll have to buy one separately, just like the Tab S8 series. 

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Series: Price, Availability, and Colors

The Galaxy Tab S9 and Tab S9+ come with a starting price of $799.99 and $999.99, respectively. The top-end model, the Tab S9 Ultra, will set you back $1,199.99 for the base model with the 256GB variant. All three variants of the Galaxy Tab S9 series are available in 5G and Wi-Fi models (pricing differs accordingly).

The Galaxy Tab S9 series is up for pre-orders starting July 26th in the United States and will be available from August 11th. All three tablets are available in two colors: Graphite and Beige.
