OnePlus Nord N10 and N100: All you need to know

OnePlus has unveiled its latest Nord N Series that includes a mid-range smartphone Nord N10, and a budget-friendly option named Nord N100. This is another attempt by OnePlus to enter the segment of budget smartphones. Plus, the Nord N Series marks the return of the headphone jack and offers expandable memory, which is a rarity on OnePlus smartphones.

The OnePlus Nord N10 is packed with impressive features, including 5G connectivity and 90Hz refresh rate, at an attainable price point. Though these phones are a part of the company’s mid-range smartphone lineup, they look quite similar to the OnePlus 8T that was released a few weeks back. The Nord N Series features the same punch-hole design and a rear camera setup just like the OnePlus 8T. It’s worth knowing that unlike the original OnePlus Nord, the Nord N Series will release in North America too.

Android 11. OnePlus Nord N10 5G is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 SoC (system-on-chip) that works with the sub-6GHz 5G networks. The phone packs 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage, which is expandable via a microSD card (up to 512GB). You’ll also get dual-stereo speakers and a headphone jack to plug-in your wired headphones. The Nord N10 can be unlocked by using the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as the Face Unlock. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v5.1, and a Type-C USB port.

In terms of optics, the Nord N10 5G features a quad rear camera setup, housing a 64MP primary shooter, a 119-degrees ultra-wide, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP monochrome sensor. For selfies and video calls, there’s a 16MP front camera.

Now, coming to the battery and charging. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G packs a 4300mAh battery with the support for the company’s Warp Charge 30T technology, which can fast-charge the Nord N10 from 1 to 67 percent in just 30 minutes. It’s worth mentioning that wireless charging is nowhere to be found on the latest Nord N Series.

OnePlus Nord N100 Specifications

The Nord N100 features a slightly bigger, 6.54-inch display with HD+ resolution and the standard 60Hz refresh rate. OnePlus Nord N100 also packs a bigger, 5000mAh battery, but it can be fast-charged at up to 18W only. This 4G-only smartphone runs on Android 10- based OxygenOS.  The Nord N100 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM. The onboard storage is also reduced to 64GB, but it can be expanded as per your needs. Just like the Nord N10 5G, this phone has also got dual stereo speakers and a headphone jack. Plus, there’s a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock option as well.

OnePlus Nord N100 has got a triple camera setup on its rear panel, featuring a 13MP main shooter, paired with a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. The selfies and video calls are handled by the 8MP front camera.

Price and Availability

OnePlus Nord N10 5G starts at GBP 329 while the Nord N100 is priced at GBP 179. OnePlus hasn’t revealed any details regarding the release date and the exact price for the US. However, the speculated prices for Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 are $429 and $233, respectively, in the US. And, for India, it’s expected to be Rs 32,000 and Rs 17,300. The Nord N10 5G will be available in Midnight Ice and the Nord N100 features a Midnight Frost finish. Both smartphones will come first in the UK and Europe, followed by North America. The Nord N100 will launch in the UK on November 10 and the Nord N10 5G will be available later in November.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G is expected to face direct competition by other mid-range smartphones like the iPhone SE 2020 (starts at $399) and Google Pixel 4a ($349). Both smartphones are priced lesser than the latest OnePlus Nord N10, and the Google Pixel 4a has somewhat similar specifications to Nord N10. We are talking about 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 5G connectivity, a rear fingerprint sensor, and a headphone jack.
