HTC announced the Metaverse smartphone: Here’s all you need to know

HTC, the company that used to rule over the Android smartphone market is still trying to get back in the game. This time with the HTC Desire 22 Pro. It’s a midrange 5G Android 12 smartphone that is compatible with HTC’s Vive Flow VR Glasses

The unique thing about the HTC Desire 22 Pro is its Viveverse ecosystem compatibility. It allows you to browse the Metaverse’s virtual content right from this phone and a connected VR headset. If you aren’t familiar with the term, to put it simply Metaverse is the internet, but in 3D. The HTC Desire 22 Pro supports HDCP 2.2 meaning you can wirelessly mirror the content from platforms like Netflix and Disney+ which would be enhanced with Vive Glasses.

HTC Desire 22 Pro Specifications

The HTC Desire 22 Pro is a mid-ranger by all means, the phone comes with a 6.6-inch display that offers FHD+resolution at 120Hz refresh rate. HTC Desire 22 Pro is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 695 processor. It comes with 128GB RAM and 8GB ROM that can also be expanded via a microSD card. It runs on Android 12 out of the box with a 4520mAh battery and 18W charging support. The HTC Desire 22 Pro supports wireless charging as well as Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. 

In the camera department, there’s a rear 64MP primary camera which is paired with 13MP ultrawide and 5MP (depth) cameras. The rear camera setup has autofocus while the front notch has a 32-megapixel camera. The smartphone comes with an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. The Desire 22 Pro comes in 2 colors Black and Gold.

HTC also mentioned that this phone includes a digital wallet to manage crypto assets as well as NFTs. The early bird buyers will get an exclusive NFT, a shockproof case, and an HTC wireless charger.

HTC Desire 22 Pro Price and Availability

The HTC Desire Pro 22 is available for preorder now for £399.00 in the UK but the phones will start shipping from August 1 onwards. The open sales in Taiwan will start from July 1 on offline and online channels at the price of TWD 11,990($404).
