Xiaomi Mi Notebook 14 Series Launched: All you need to know

Xiaomi has finally forayed into the laptop space in India with its Mi Notebook 14. The Chinese phone maker has launched its Mi Notebook 14 series at a global online-only event on June 11, 2020. Xiaomi has released 3 variants of the Mi Notebook 14 series. Besides, the company has also launched the much-awaited flagship Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition in two variants. The Mi Notebook 14 is introduced at an inaugural price of Rs 41,999 and the Horizon Edition starts at Rs 54,999. 

Last month, Xiaomi launched its high-end flagship Mi 10 5G smartphone, Mi True Wireless earphones 2, and Mi Box 4K in India, and now Xiaomi has also marked its entry into the Indian laptop market. The Chinese phone maker is finally expanding its product line in India as well. 

Xiaomi Mi Notebook 14 Specifications

Xiaomi’s Mi Notebook 14 features a sleek, all-metallic body with an anodized sandblasted coating that brings look and feel of a premium and sturdy laptop. It sports a


14-inch Full HD anti-glare display with narrow bezels, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and an 81.2% screen-to-body ratio. Plus, it offers a 178-degrees viewing angle for a comfortable watching experience. The laptops are thin, compact, and weighs around 1.5 kgs. The keyboard of the laptop features a Scissors-switch mechanism with a decent 1.3mm key travel, however, there’s no backlit option available. The Mi Notebook 14 is equipped with a large trackpad with multi-touch gestures. Plus, Xiaomi has bundled two utilities out-of-the-box- Mi Smart Share that allows a faster file transfer between the devices, and Mi Blaze Unlock that allows you to unlock your Mi Notebook with a Mi band 3 or Mi Band 4 in a mere 1.2 seconds.

Mi Notebook 14 specifications

In terms of connectivity, the Mi Notebook 14 is packed with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Type-A USB 2.0, two Type-A USB 3.1, and a 1.4b HDMI port. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5 capabilities. These Notebooks offer a battery life of up to 10 hours, support fast charger, and you’ll get a 65W power adapter in the box. It’s worth mentioning that you won’t find a webcam in the NoteBook. Fortunately, Xiaomi is giving an external Mi Webcam HD 720p right into the box, to plug with your Notebook. 

The Mi Notebook 14 is powered by Intel i5 10th-generation processors and comes in three variants that differ in RAM, internal storage, and graphics processors. The top-end model is packed with an


NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card that offers amazing photo and video processing capabilities and supports a smoother and faster performance on your device. The entire lineup runs on Windows 10 Home edition. Here’ s a breakdown of the variants:

The flagship Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition features a beautiful 14-inch Full HD anti-glare horizon display with super-thin 3mm bezels. The whopping screen-to-body ratio of 91% has made it possible to fit in a 14-inch horizon display in the form factor of a 13.3-inch laptop. The display offers a 178-degrees viewing angle and claims to offer the best possible viewing experience while you’re watching your favorite NetFlix series or playing some action games. Xiaomi says the Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition is the perfect pick for anyone who’s looking for a  multi-tasking laptop. Moreover, this ultra-light laptop weighs only 1.35 kgs, which helps the device to score some extra brownie points.


Mi Notebook Horizon Edition

The Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition is launched in two variants. Both the models will come with the latest Windows 10 and include the Mi Blaze Unlock and Mi Smart Share software. Just like the Mi Notebook 14 series lineup, the Horizon Edition also offers a battery life of up to 10 hours, supports fast charging, and offers a separate Mi Webcam HD in the box. These Notebooks also features the scissor keyboard, stereo sound speakers, two Type-A USB 3.1 ports, one Type-A USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, and a multi-touch trackpad along with the charging port.

Both the models of the Horizon Edition are packed with top-of-the-line NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics card and super-fast 8GB DDR4 RAM. Xiaomi claims that the Horizon Edition is one of the first laptops that are packed with the NVIDIA MX350 graphics card, which makes lines them amongst the top contenders that offer incredible gaming performance and unmatched photo and video editing capabilities without compromising design.

The Mi Notebook 14 is launched at an inaugural price of Rs 41,999 and the Horizon Edition is priced at Rs 54,999. Here’s a complete breakdown of the prices:

The Mi Notebook 14 and the Horizon Edition will go up for sale in India from June 17, 2020, across mi.com, Amazon.in, Mi Home, and Mi Studio stores. They will be soon available across the offline retailer stores in the country. 


Xiaomi claims that its Mi Notebook 14 and the Horizon Edition will give a serious competition to the ultrabook laptops from HP, Dell, and Lenovo, at this price bracket and all the credit goes to the top-of-the-line features and a lesser price tag. Plus, when the entire world has switched to Work From Home and the demand for the laptops has gone up, it will be interesting to see how the customers will react to these feature-packed Notebooks.
