iPhone X: The next big thing

Apple just unveiled the iPhone X, which unlike other iPhones, is not the successor to any of the previous iPhones, but a new iPhone in itself. The iPhone X is the most radical change in iPhones since the first iPhone itself.

It features a lot of new features. Following are the features of the new iPhone X-

  • An Edge to Edge Display

The iPhone X features an edge to edge display. This means that unlike other iPhones like the iPhone 8, the iPhone X has minimum bezels. This leads to a gorgeous design where the front of the phone is just the display, save for the bar up at the top where all the sensors and earpiece are nested.

  • FaceID

Since the iPhone X features an all display front, there is no room for a home button and thus no room for TouchID. Apple has replaced it with a face detection technique called FaceID. FaceID is supposed to use highly sophisticated machine learning algorithms and methods to truly learn each and every feature of your face. As a result it’s performance will not deteriorate if you make changes to your appearance like getting a beard. Also it’s advanced enough to not be fooled with photos or masks. The bar on top of the display of the iPhone is where an array of high quality sensors are located which make FaceID work. This is one feature where we’ll have to use the device to see actually how effective it really is.

  • Glass Build

iPhones have been famously built using unibody aluminium designs since the iPhone 6. Now, Apple has resorted to a glass and stainless steel build, similar in principle to what’s found on the iPhone 8. iPhone X has two sheets of the toughest glass ever used on a smartphone, sandwiching a stainless steel frame. The phone truly looks gorgeous and we’re sure would feel great in the hand.

  • Better Battery Life

Apple claims that iPhone X will have 2 more hours of battery life than the iPhone 7. While that’s not a very precise statement, it’s safe to assume that the iPhone X battery life will be somewhere between the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. It will be greater than the iPhone 7 and lesser than the iPhone 7 Plus.

  • Super Retina Display

The iPhone 8 comes with a 5.8″ Super Retina display. It packs a resolution of 2436×1125 giving a pixel density of 458 PPI. This is the best quality display ever put by Apple in a smartphone and also the largest since the Plus models come with just 5.5″. We’re sure that the display won’t be as popping as Samsung’s displays but it will be still a pretty excellent and vivid display.

  • New Cameras

At the event, Apple didn’t talk much about the dual cameras of the iPhone X which means we can safely assume that it has the same rear cameras as the iPhone 8 Plus.  This means that it gets all the goodies like Portrait Lighting, 4K 60fps video recording and 1080p 240 fps slow motion recording. Stay tuned for more info and samples from the camera of the iPhone X.

  • Portrait Selfie

With the bevy of sensors needed to power FaceID, the iPhone X’s selfie shooter also gets a significant update and it will also be able to click selfies in portrait mode. Portrait lighting may also be available for selfies on the iPhone X.

  • Pricing

The iPhone X will be available in 2 memory capacities of 64GB and 256GB. The price starts from 999$ which means it is safe to say that this phone might even touch Rs 1,00,000 in India. We’ll keep you guys updated on the pricing.

We are very, very excited about the iPhone X. To our eyes, it is a beautiful piece of technology that looks to be a truly capable beast of a smartphone. We’re excitedly looking forward to getting our hands on this device.
